At her peak weight of 135 Kgs, Mrs Bhavita’s health issues and frustrations were mounting.

“That’s when I started thinking about bariatric surgery. I wanted something that would help me keep the weight off for the long run.”

Bhavita already knew that most individuals who try diet modification and exercise tend to gain back their original weight plus additional kilos. However, she quickly discovered that bariatric surgery has proven to be an effective strategy for long-term weight loss and reversal of Diabetes Mellitus and OHS as well.

Not only did Bhavita want everyone to look at her differently, but she also wanted to improve her quality of life. Both her blood pressure and blood glucose were increasing. Along with that her Obstructive Sleep Apnea was not letting her a relaxed lifestyle.

Although it was a difficult decision, Mrs Bhavita underwent Bariatric Surgery procedure on 18th December 2019.

Mrs Bhavita’s winning her battle has happy ending.

Along with losing 53 kgs, her high blood pressure has resolved, and her blood sugar has reversed, making her peacefully sleep and feel more energetic in day.

“I love my life – always have. But I really feel incredible now. I’m healthier. It’s like I’m the same person, but different. Medically speaking, I am fine, and I feel great. If there was something missing, it sure is in place now.”

“Everybody was super helpful,” she said. “It was awesome the way they kept up the communication. The surgeon was unreal and had miraculous power. It is not an easy process, but everybody was there for me.”

A key to success, according to her, is when a bariatric program stays with its patients after surgery to help them make good choices in diet and lifestyle. “I loved the follow-up by Zydus Hospital’s Gobesity Centre,” she said. “They stay with you. That is their reputation and that says it all.”

She credits Dr. Parag Patel with allowing her to take control of her life and feels like she’s been given a second chance.
