‘I feel alive again’ – Hetal Thakor’s story will certainly motivate you

“I love my body the way it is” I have heard this a lot, but frankly I feel that this is a lazy person’s testimony. Few years ago, I was no different. But when it struck me that weight loss and staying fit is not just about the way you look but your well-being in totality, I decided to do something about my health.

But let’s begin at the beginning. I am Hetal Thakor, Over the past several years, I snored extremely loudly, and I always felt tired and unrested.

With sleep apnea, tissues in the back of the throat collapse, cutting off a person’s air supply and, ultimately, disrupting his/her sleep. Snoring, caused by those tissues flapping together, is a common symptom of the disorder.

That was then… and I haven’t looked back since

At that moment I decided that I was going to fix my body. I knew I was precariously reaching the state of obesity, so I decided to fight the flab before it got worse.

I felt so scared. I knew that number was just creeping right up on me. For me to be following right in line with all of that terrified me. I felt so helpless. I did not feel I had any choice. But then I started talking to myself instead of listening to myself. I kept telling myself, you can do this, just keep going and stop listening to the excuses I created in my mind.

I always used to listen the complains about my snoring habit. But I was ignoring the complaints until a friend mentioned the same symptoms, and how she discovered it to be sleep apnea. I got the sleep test done and was diagnosed with sleep apnea as well.

Apart from heavy snoring, my sleep apnea symptoms also included daytime sleepiness, tiredness, Hypertension, Hyperthyroidism, and fatigue. All of these was just because of one reason – Obesity Class III. But I underwent the bariatric surgery, the symptoms are gone!

I’ve heard that a lot of people give it up, but I didn’t. If you don’t treat your sleep apnea, you continue suffering the symptoms of sleep apnea that in the long run may be a lot more expensive than getting operated. I got my Obesity Surgery on 1st of January 2020 and now I live a healthy life — I eat well, I sleep well. Now I wake up in the morning full of energy and vitality.
