Now I have a newfound positive for the future – Mrs Dipa Kotecha

I struggle with major health related problems concerning my diabetes, Varicose Vein, Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Diabetes Mellitus. I was Grade III obese, so my weight was difficult to maintain. I decided bariatric surgery because my diabetes was getting out of control.

It was taking over my body which was making my everyday life dysfunctional. Mrs Dipa Kotecha saw her weight slowly creep up over the years. As the kilos piled on, this housewife did more sitting and less of the activities she loved. Though she tried dieting, but it never lasted; she soon reverted to eating much more.

By the time she topped out at 100 Kgs, Mrs Dipa was in miserable heath condition. “I hated what I’d turned into. Just going up the steps left me winded,” she says. “My knees hurt; my ankles hurt.”

In early of 2019, Mrs Dipa went to her doctor with a leg problem. Despite it was just varicose vein but her overall health was also on stake due to her Obesity. She had Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Diabetes Mellitus and her entire personality has getting affected after her obesity caught up with her “I decided enough was enough,” says Mrs Dipa, who made an appointment with Bariatric Surgeon Dr Parag Patel, MS, at Zydus Hospital’s GObesity Bariatric Center. “I wanted to be able to enjoy my future: grandchildren, retirement, and traveling with my husband.”

Now her daily routine includes a 30-minute walk in the morning and 30 minutes of exercise. She also started other outdoor activities. Although her blood pressure was never bad, it has now dropped to normal, her diabetes is under control, she can sleep peacefully and her leg problem had solved entirely.

“I haven’t felt this good in decades. I feel like a 22-year-old!” says Mrs Dipa. “My energy is unbelievable. I’m no longer huffing and puffing. Bariatric surgery improved every facet of my life.”

This made me feel more radiant, more energetic, and I feel like I became a better person. The bariatric surgery changed my life because now I have a newfound positive for the future. I have all this new energy, and not only energy, but this positive energy that I’m able to apply to my family. I’ve become a better wife to my husband, and far greater mother to my children.
